About the Community of Bradford Woods
Bradford Woods is a northwestern borough of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. It was origianally settled as a summer getaway and was part of Marshall Township until May 3, 1915 when it was incorporated as a Borough. The Bradford Woods Borough is located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh, Harmony, Butler and New Castle (Harmony Line) interurban railway previously ran through Bradford Woods, where Forest Road is today. It provided a direct route to Pittsburgh. In 1974, a home rule government was established.
The 2010 census population was 1,171 and Bradford Woods is situated on a total area of 0.9 square miles. . It is part of the North Allegheny School District and it is to home to Bradford Woods Elementary School, which is in the North Allegheny School District.

The Bradford Woods Conservancy has mixed in many new faces on the Board over the last year to compliment our long-standing members, and I’m happy to say that the combined ideas and experience have given us all an optimistic outlook for 2010. The following are planned opportunities for everyone in the Borough throughout the year:
Naturalist Training with the Audubon Society in the BW Reserve Community Programs, including a Birds of Prey Program, a presentation from the PA Forest
Stewards, backyard composting, a Borough Clean-up Day, as well as the annual Sapling Give-Away and Perennial Sale Conservancy Committees, including many opportunities to promote and support Conservation in and around BW.
Mission – to promote education, appreciation and conservation of the community, and to encourage environmental stewardship of our natural resources as they affect BW and the surrounding communities. The goals include maintenance of the Reserve, trail building and maintenance, and educating all about the many aspects of the local environment.

As of the 2000 census, there were 1,149 people, 464 households, and 373 families residing in Bradford Woods borough. The population density was 1,283.2 people per square mile (492.9/km²). There were 478 housing units at an average density of 533.8 per square mile (205.1/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.61% White, 0.09% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.26% were other races, and 0.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.78% of the population.
The median income for a household in the borough was $92,820, and the median income for a family was $100,329. Males had a median income of $70,313 versus $43,125 for females.

The largest employers in Hoffman Estates are Sears Holdings Corporation (5,700 employees), AT&T (4,700), St. Alexius Medical Center (2,121), GE Capital (800), Career Education Corporation (650), ADP (600), Siemens Medical Solutions (500), Leopardo (400), Liberty Mutual (400), Claire’s (350), Bosch Rexroth (160), Mori Seiki (100) and FANUC (100). Sears Holdings Corporation, Career Education Corporation, Claire’s and Amcol are headquartered in Hoffman Estates.
